Adding a Customized master page

Once you've customized a Prime master page, here's how to add it to the Master Page Gallery and ensure it is Published.

  1. Navigate to Site Actions > Site Settings > Master pages and page layouts​
  2. Select the Documents tab in the ribbon
  3. Select Upload Document and select your custom master page file (make sure you change the name to something custom) and click OK
  4. In the modal that opens, set Content Type to Publishing Master Page and click Check In
  5. Now hover over the name of the master page you just added, click the down arrow that appears and select Publish a Major Version (see image below)
  6. Enter a Comment and click OK
  7. Again, hover over the name of the master page you just added, click the down arrow that appears and select Approve/Reject (see image below)
  8. Set the Approval Status to Approved and click OK
  9. You can now apply this new master page at Site Settings > Site Actions > Master Page
